My Journey with IMU: A Gateway to Opportunities in Biotechnology

When I was exploring options for higher education, IMU‘s strong reputation in medical sciences drew me in. I started my journey with the IMU Foundation programme, which laid a solid foundation for transitioning from high school to university. It offered a supportive environment that helped me adapt quickly and prepared me for the Medical Biotechnology degree, setting me up for success in my studies.

Reflecting on my time at IMU, some of my best memories come from participating in and hosting events as a student ambassador. However, a standout moment for me as a Medical Biotechnology student was organising and coordinating the Medical Biotechnology Day. This event was particularly special because it involved engaging with secondary and pre-university students from across Malaysia, sparking their interest in the field of biotechnology. The experience helped me build my communication skills, expand my network, and step out of my comfort zone, which proved invaluable throughout my degree.

Yet, it was the hands-on lab sessions and research projects that truly ignited my passion for biotechnology. I cherished every moment in the lab, mastering essential techniques like PCR and tissue culture. These practical experiences laid a strong foundation for my future career and deepened my appreciation for the field’s potential.
