Why this means something personal
- Many of us sat in his lectures.
- Many of us were guided by his words.
- Today, we have an opportunity to give back — not individually, but together.

This initiative is more than the development of a physical facility.
It is a collective alumni-led effort to honour an educator whose influence continues to shape IMU and its graduates.

Honouring Prof Ong Kok Hai
Professor Ong Kok Hai was widely respected as an educator, mentor, and institutional leader whose contributions played a pivotal role in shaping IMU and generations of healthcare professionals.
More than an educator, Professor Ong instilled in his students a deeper philosophy — that education is not only a personal achievement, but also a responsibility to serve, contribute, and give back to society.
The IMU Alumni Association proposes that the lecture theatre be named the Ong Kok Hai Executive Lecture Theatre in recognition of his enduring legacy, subject to the endorsement and approval of IMU and with the consent of Professor Ong Kok Hai’s family.
By naming this lecture theatre in his honour, we seek to:
- Preserve and celebrate his legacy within IMU
- Inspire future generations of students and healthcare professionals
- Recognise his contributions to medical and healthcare education
- Embed his values of excellence, integrity, leadership, and lifelong learning within the institution
- Continue the culture of giving and community contribution that he inspired among his students
The Ong Kok Hai Executive Lecture Theatre will stand not only as a learning space, but also as a lasting symbol of gratitude, leadership, and alumni unity.
